Background:
For a long time, urban culture has been a symbol of a city’s culturalization development. The very carrier is public libraries , where people can read books, newspapers or magazines of all aspects. The rapid growth of Internet and informatization technologies has brought unprecedent changes to public library service. The most outstanding innovation is the adoption of library self-service terminals. System integrator has chosen NORCO’s POS dedicated motherboard as part of this solution. Here we we will introduce this solution in detail:
Mechanism:
The library self-service system is composed of inquiry touch panel, self-servie terminals, RFID reader, barcode reader ,barcode scanner and a motherboard used for remote communication with the library data center. The self-service terminals of the library read the information of the reader cards and then transmit the information to the data center of the library or carry out authentications. After the authentications, the library self-service terminals will output specified books of the readers or get back the returned books according to the acquired directives from readers. The library self-service terminals can be flexibly arranged, and the readers can realize self-service borrowing of books, take back reserved books and return books through any of the self-service terminals. With this terminal, most libraries can open for 24 hours.Users can borrow or return books on the library sel-service terminals, even at the time when the libray is closed.
System Requirements:
1.Able to identify bar code label and has RFID function
2.Able to identify different lable information of books, magazines, CD or Video tapes, etc.
3. Equipped with HD LCD display
4.Support “Aleph500” library management system
5.Barcode scanner alble to read various barcode
6.Connect to system via TCP/IP
7.Sound alert for readers’ unproper operation and display the informatoin of readers’book renewal records and the due charges
8.Compatible with external devices, such as IC Card and Barcode Card
9. Six infrared sensors to prevent readers changing the book content on purpose,
10. Anti-high temperature and high humidity, without the limitation of time and place.
System Benefit:
The system integrator choose NORCO’s embedded computer 7853A as the main controlling platform, which is specially designed for library self-service terminals. The motherboard is NORCO POS-7853,which is a hi-performance motheboard based on Intel 945G(C)+ICH7 chipset, supporting Intel Pentium-4 and Core 2 Duo, 533MHz/800MHz/1066MHz FSB. In storage, it supports two 240pin dual—channel memory DDR?400/533/667 slot, capacity max. up to 2GB; In display, onboard Video controller, support LVDS output, In I/O interface, one IDE, one Audio port support 5.1 channels HD output, one parallel, ten COM, four SATA1/SATA2, six USB 2.0, one LAN (optional 100/1000M), and one FDD.
